Shannon Delaney

Book Description Courtesy of Amazon UK

Locked away at Pecan Place, Jessie finds her situation to be even more dangerous than she feared. While she struggles to maintain her sanity and discover answers about the group that seems less and less like any legitimate government agency, Pietr fights to keep their relationship alive.
But very aware that his mother's time is running out Pietr makes a deal he doesn't dare tell Jessie about. The deal Pietr's made could mean the death of far more than his tenuous relationship with the girl he loves...

My thoughts on this third book in the 13 to Life series are:  I liked it, not as much as the first two but I still enjoyed it.  If you are a fan of Shannon Delaney then this is a must read, as there are a number of things that get resolved from the first two books. No more spoilers though, you'll have to find out exactly what get resolved by reading it!

If you've already read it  ~ What did you think?

Happy reading, and see you at the next

The Friday Book Feature with Chrystal Parker

Welcome to my second Friday Book Feature!

Daily Dose of Dogs (aka Cats with your Coffee)

Chrystal Parker

Product Description ~ Courtesy of Amazon.co.uk

This is, first and foremost, a book about private animal rescue. The stories are true. As a result, these pages are filled with sadness and joy, loss and hope, heartbreak and compassion. Within the stories, personalities emerge, and the love affair between author and animal is apparent. During the course of one year, the author blogs the stories from her past alongside the rescues that occur in real time. Along the way, she discovers a growing support system in the blogosphere. Those connections offer not only emotional succour but also very tangible aid. The world of private animal rescue is candidly revealed in a series of short vignettes.

Author bio

Chrystal Parker is a private animal rescuer in Southern Illinois. She left a career as a psychotherapist in order to homeschool her two daughters. Building and operating a small boarding kennel has helped with the big costs of the rescue work. Chrystal’s lifelong love of animals made it impossible for her to turn away from the precious homeless creatures she encountered. She has spent a large portion of her adult life taking in needy animals and trying to find wonderful homes for them.

A message from the author

There IS a reason for you to buy this book.  You love animals, especially dogs and cats.  Right?  This book is about homeless dogs and cats, living a nightmare, breeding uncontrollably - NOT pleasant to ponder.  But wait.  This book will make you feel good about what’s happening for some of the homeless creatures in one little corner of the world.

Daily Dose of Dogs (aka Cats with your Coffee) is the true account of my ongoing battle to make a difference in the lives of the homeless creatures I encounter.  My hope is that this book will entertain you, bring a tear and a smile, maybe even have you believing that we CAN make a difference for animals.

There is another reason for you to buy this book.  I am a private animal rescuer.  The costs of private rescue come right out of the pocket of the rescuer.  I am always looking for ways to support this work.  If I sell books, that income helps me to continue the work and still pay the bills.  And might I add that my
BIG dream would be to sell so many books that not only could I continue the work but even expand it.  Therefore, sales will ultimately help me help more.

Thank you

So there you have it, what more do you need to know to help some fluffy furriends that were lucky enough to have been saved and rescued by Chrystal.

I bought a copy, I'm still reading it now and thoroughly enjoying it.

Just think for the price of your morning Latte or whatever hot beverage you buy, you could go just one day without that and buy this instead ~ now that's a point to ponder!

Enjoy and many thanks to Chrystal for letting me showcase her book.

When Scoop the cat with the curly tail from Kuching city in Sarawak decides he doesn’t like living on the streets, he moves in with the author.  From that fateful day Scoop and his cat pals Au and Target rule the author’s life with a firm but gentle velvet paws, proving the adage that dogs have masters while cats have staff.

Katz Tales is a collection of lighthearted stories that celebrate the antics of the wise yet wily Scoop, his sturdy and inventive cat companion Au and the kitten Target who enslaves the family with a single friendly meep

Stories include the one where Scoop fakes an illness in order to reach a secret goal, the time Au is outsmarted by the neighbourhood birds, and the near disaster as Target is trapped behind a giant wall.  In addition, Tales includes a handy cat FAQ for new cat lovers that gives advice on how to train kittens, prevent disease, bathe cats, keep indoor cats in good mental health, support grieving animals and other common issues.
