NanoWrimo Update...

Well I'm sad to say that NanoWrimo is officially a bust this year, but even so, I still got plenty done...  I remodelled my entire office, got two books on kindle, caught up with all my paperwork from when I was away in September and October, I finished four new paintings, and I have been working on my new website: www.cathrinegarnell.co.uk which will hopefully be live sometime in December, so all in all it wasn't too bad.  Besides there's always next year and I think with my excessive word count from last year ~ 105,000 words ~ it probably cancels out this year! (LOL I can wish!!!)

I am still working on the novel and should have a decent word count by Christmas, so I'll keep you posted on that.

NanoWrimo Update....

Hi there, well I've managed to get to 5,500 words now on my novel, there are only 13 days left.... ah well, what will be, will be.

So I am resigned to the fact that I might not get there, but hey ho, if I don't manage to get there this year, there's always next year with another novel.

However there still is time for a miracle in Wrimo Land! (fingers crossed)

Thanks for stopping by

Enjoy the story!

NanoWrimo Update....

It's day 10 of the NanoWrimo Challenge and after starting my 'new' novel I have now written a total of 3600 words... still many many more to go, however at least I'm travelling in the right direction.

It's not going to be easy, but then upon reflection I remembered that on day three of the challenge last year, my trial period of Microsoft Word expired and stopped working - OH JOY -  and I spent the next two days trying to get the software (I needed a 3 license for all my computers and there was no stock) To cut a long story short I got the software and it all turned out ok and my novel reached the dizzy heights of 105,000 (ish) words.

So, there is still hope for me yet that's my point, even though I started and then stalled horrendously and I may not be where I wanted to be or writing the novel I originally wanted to write, all is not lost.

And I'm keeping in mind there is always time for a miracle :)

Pray for that miracle!

Until next time... BFN

Vile Violeticia

Vile Violeticia

Well, here's the cover. It's finished and it's totally FABULOUS!!!

I think the cover is amazing, and very soon the book will be available to BUY!!!

The Cover was created by Jason Whatever (Click to find out more)

And just in case you missed my earlier post:

My new book for 7 - 9 year olds ~ Vile Violeticia ~ is just having it's final tweak before it becomes available at the end of next month in Paperback and E-Book format. I have just seen the artwork for the cover it's really great. As soon as the artwork is finalised and I get a copy, I'll post it...

Here's a little taster of what's to come:

‘Vile Violeticia’ tells the story of Violeticia who is a particularly naughty little girl. She has a total disregard for authority and blatantly flouts the rules refusing to learn life's simple lessons.

Until one day payback come with a twist ~ Dreamtime Reality. A bump on the head sends Violeticia to a place she never knew existed and one, where she definitely doesn't want to be ~ the wretched Isle of Phantas Magorias.

Where the nightmares are real and there’s only one way out, learn to be good or else. The clock is ticking and time is running out, but not just for Violeticia.

She has choices to make, but will they be the right ones?

(you'll have to read it to find out)
This was a really fun book to write and I have another three in the works to complete the series (hopefully they will done next year):
The Horrendous Halloween
The Christmas Catastrophe
and finally
The Easter Eggsplosion
So watch this space for more news on the adventures of
Vile Violeticia!

NanoWrimo Update.....

I have officially scrapped my other novel (that is on hold for another day) and have chosen another one to write, fingers crossed this one won't be a non-starter like the other.   I have now decided on the following title for my challenge.

I am now writing 'Dark Storm' and it begins like this...

It was a cold dark night, the rain lashed down with ferocious intent as the wind howled through the trembling forest.  The storm was coming fast, but that was not the only thing that was on its way...

So I must get back to it, as according to the NanoWrimo Stats I need to write 2000 words a day just to make the target of 50,000 words, therefore I really need to get my skates on and get going.

Wish me luck and here I go back into the depths of the NanoWrimo Realm!

See you on the other side ;) LOL

NanoWrimo Update....

Well after a really shaky and truly dreadful start with my Novel 'Ashes' and four days in to NanoWrimo, I'm still completely clueless, so I have decided that it doesn't want to be written right now and I'm moving on to a new one which I do have plot for and is all ready to go with an army of notes for back up...

Wish me luck!!

I'll post the new title later...

NanoWrimo Update....

Well, it's not quite going as planned.  It's day 3 and I'm only on 600 words - this is NOT good!!!

I feel like a mushroom.... completely in the dark and don't know where I'm going... any suggestions at this point would be very welcome, so if any of you have any idea's to get my word count and writing up to speed, shout up please! LOL

Ok, back to Wrimo Land...

Bye for now!

NanoWrimo Update... Part Deux...

It worked, five and half minutes of staring at a blank page did it and 400-ish words later I'm on my way, even though I don't know the destination, or even the route yet.  (So basically I'm driving blind and totally clueless right now.)

The point is that I'm at least on the road and I'm travelling, I'm motoring, not at great speed, more of a 'Driving Miss Daisy' speed but there's time to get some momentum going tomorrow and increase the velocity!

Hallelujah and Praise whoever for small mercies... so back to the writing

NanoWrimo Update...

It's 8.43 pm and I sadly, still have not had that 'Eureka Moment!'  (Awwwww Hell!!! This is not the start I wanted!!!!)

So I am going to try a new angle, this is to sit and stare at a blank screen until the sheer whiteness of an empty page drives me to write something... anything, just to get going.

So here goes...

NanoWrimo is here!

National Novel Writing Month

(or NanoWrimo)

Well it has finally arrived, the day that all us Nanowrimo's love.

The 1st of November hails the beginning of a month long challenge to write a 50,000 word (or more) novel in 30 days.

I am participating for the third year in a row, and I have to say right now at this present moment in time, I have absolutely no idea what my story is about - EEEEEEEK!

But I remain hopeful that by the time I leave work in a few short hours, I will have had that proverbial 'Eureka' moment and be well on my way to creating a new plot and the prose will flow...

My last two NanoWrimo novels were a comparative breeze and I am hoping that the third and final installment of this trilogy is going to be the same (ha ha ha... I should be so lucky!)

The first book is called ~ Storm ~ Final word count approx 67,500
The second book is called ~Tempest ~ Final Word Count approx 105,000
The third book is called ~ Flood ~ Word count right now = ZERO

I will keep you updated on my progress throughout the challenge and if you want to cheer me on, that would be really awesome :)

Or you could sign up and write your own novel... See you in Wrimo Land!
